There was just no messing around. Every DJ and MC threw down SWEET & NASTY. Lokae brought you in on a smooth dub low-flying carpet under the blood red backdrop of Lil Baobab’s walls. Up next Manitous busted open a can of whup ass ‘n bass before WHOMP WHOMP WHOOOOOOOOMMP time! Professor Bang made me drop a tear (but only on the inside, ON THE INSIDE!) like being in the eye of the storm in a classy euphoric outro: Born Slippy in a four to the floor remix. How fucking sweet! I hugged the closest slayer within reach- and that was Mousepad. Mousepad. That night Terenga folk can officially brag they have witnessed the fastest tightest beyondest most dynamic mouth commander (MC) onda block. However big or small your block is.. whether your hood stretches from Bushwick, Brooklyn to East London, England or just the corner of 19th & Mission… after watching Joe Mousepad in his comeback, your cool got ALOT cooler.
After that I got lost in the BLAP. MC Supa 13 was also there to represent. Of course Freddie Future was there to deck smack ya in the face with the bass as it traveled down to your magical pppplace. Unfortunately Matt Haze couldn’t be there so this one’s for him and everyone else that should’ve been there. Yes, YOU.
I’ve seen this crew come a long way since covering my first Slayers Club event on 4/20 weekend this year in the AIDS cycle benefit outlaw party in Dolores Park. I’ve also seen a lot of you coming back week after week. It’s absolutely my happyness to see yours.
