Manitous

For over a decade, Manitous has been stealthily traversing the west coast underground and beyond, strategically opening giant wormholes in the space-time continuum. A child of disparate worlds and a man of environmental extremes, Manitous is the product of sonic collision…he is a walking soundclash. His career as a dj has seen him welcome desert sunrises with epic dreamspell breaks, rockin boats with some o’ that old school, destroying dancefloors with the junglist massive, and recently causing frenzies dropping spaceglitchdubelectrobreakshousehopstep and a good amount of African and dancehall vibes. With a healthy disregard for genres and a nasty case of the whomps, Manitous continues to bring the danger to speakers worldwide.

The last few years has found Manitous relentlessly destroying genres alongside an eclectic array of artists such as Flying Lotus, the Glitch Mob, and Michael Franti & Spearhead, to name a few. As a founding member of the motley crew of misfits known as Slayers Club, Manitous keeps bringin’ it heavy, hard, and sometimes a little loud…..sebo

Professor Bang

Professor Bang has been DJing since 1998, when he inherited a mismatched pair of decks and a secondhand mixer from some friends. Never one to do things the easy way, he learned to beatmatch with drum n’ bass, and it wasn’t long before he was spinning at raves and clubs around the Bay Area and Northern California. His tastes quickly wandered beyond d n’ b, leading him to gigs spinning house, hip-hop, indie rock and beyond; his background as a multi-instrumentalist and singer may be to blame for his genre-bending style. Juggling bands, a radio career and DJ gigs makes for some late nights and early mornings, but pBang’s commitment to bringing crucial sounds to the dancefloor is unwavering. Since joining forces with Slayers Club in late 2008, Professor Bang has brought his talents to bear on new venues, new audiences and new styles…with plenty more to come!

DJ Matt Haze

Matt Haze began his DJ career in the Bronx as a husky 10 year-old, cutting up the dopest Paula Abdul and MC Hammer cassingles at his little sister’s birthday party. In high school, he took a fervent interest in the NYC ska scene. To share his newfound passion for underground music, Haze founded a pirate radio station with two tape decks, a mail-order transmitter kit and a ratty pair of old headphones that doubled as the studio mic.

The Haze paid his dues as a promoter and fledgling live DJ in the Midwestern rave scene (you don’t know the true meaning of PLUR until you’ve had raw meat hurled at you in a barnful of knackered party kids), hosted “Static Free Radio” on WSUM 91.7FM for several years and held court as king of the jungle at Magnetic in Madison, WI – the longest-running D&B weekly in the Midwest.

Today, Matt Haze will disembowel a crowd with the quickness, using his patented ADHD NinjaBass Tricknology to pull the dancefloor’s collective trousers down and spank the sh!t out of it. Don’t be surprised to hear Israeli dancehall, Brazilian funk, Ukrainian hip-hop or German oompahtronics in the mix alongside the latest heavy bass cuts and always a few dusties from the deeeeeep crates!

Lokae

Lokae Magic

This recipe is a sure bet for warm summer nights when the feet are itchin’ to move. May induce supremely hot fuzziness when convergence between music, dancer, and DJ occurs.

  • 4 verses of hiphop, raw
  • 4 whole amen breaks (or substitute chopped drum and bass)
  • 8 bars of dubstep as a thickening agent
  • 17 samples of meowing cats (mewww)
  • 2-4 loops of breaks, fidget, or grimey electro
  • mix pinches of various other genres to taste

  • 6 years djing, production & music technology
  • 20 years on keyboards, bass & other instruments
  • 5 previous bands & ensembles from metal to jazz

Joe Mousepad

Joe Mousepad began his career as an emcee in New Hampshire during the the summer of 1997. Playing In several bands and freestyling at parties, honed the skills needed to bring the sound to the closest metropolitan area, Boston. In Boston his sound developed further by playing with several Berklee College of Music students, such as the band Lifted, eventually became a member in the band Heist and connecting with other local musicians and artists to form the co-op known as the Butcher Shop. The East Coast is his home, but after a visit to the Bay Area in the summer of 2006, he decided that the time was right to move and start fresh. Upon arriving in San Francisco in the fall of 2007, things immediately began to develop. Working with producers Drewmin and Redivider he began to focus on composing, writing and producing. Slayers Club deejays Manitous and Freddy Future were also some of Joe’s best friends on the West Coast, so when they asked him to emcee for a gig at a night called Terenga, of course the answer was yes, and from there the Slayers Club began its journey to becoming the party demolishing machine that it is today.
