No One Can Ice Brodinski

"Don't Massage My Scalp While I'm in the Mix, Bro!"

Big up Dubbel Dutch of the infamous Palms Out Sounds for tipping me to this treasure trove of r&b rerubs and future-bass-hop. The Austin-based producer/DJ also features strongly with his own drummed-up take on Ciara’s “Deuces”. Painstakingly curated by Parisian beat visionary, Brodinski (pictured above), with a smattering of 2010 remix all-stars including French Fries, Mikix the Cat and Douster, I’d be hard-pressed to find a single tune on this comp that I won’t cram directly into my New Year’s crate.

From Eskmo’s Soundcloud – an unexpected collection of tunes unlikely to be heard on any dancefloor anywhere, unless it happens to be in a David Lynch movie:

“I was recently asked to make a mix for the Tom Ravenscroft show on BBC6 Music. Instead of an all electronic mix of some random ‘dope’ tunes out there right now, I figured I would give an insight into some other music that has moved me over the past few years. With the 20 mins given, I tried my best to give you an insight. I tried mighty hard to include Peter Gabriel, but alas… I would highly encourage anyone to dive further into the artists works below. Enjoy, B

1. Prison Songs (Parchman Farm 1947/48) “Old Dollar Mamie”

2. Tom Waits: “Clap Hands”

3. Phosphorescent: “At Death, A Proclomation”

4. The Residents: “Jambalaya”

5. Yeasayer: “Forgiveness”

6. Jónsi: “Kolnidur”

7.Actress: “Futurproofing”

8. Benoit Pioulard: “Lasted”

9.The Residents: “The Festival of Death””

Link to the original BBC Post.

Because, after all, nothing says “Winter’s here” like a mix that ends with “The Festival of Death”!

Oh shit. This one’s gonna be huge. Sub Swara blew us away at The Big Bounce this past summer; now it’s gonna be an honor to rock with them on Dec 17th at Public Works!

(Get presales here: http://inticketing.com/events/135681)

If you haven’t heard their latest material yet, do yourself a favor and grab their newest mixtape here. Or find their brand new, groundbreaking album “Triggers”. Your earholes can thank me later.

So yeah, Friday Dec 17th. Mark it down. Sub Swara, Fresh2Death (Ben Samples / Greg Fisk), and the combined knock of Slayers Club and Surya Dub will probably set your brain on fire. Don’t sleep on this one.

A mobile party on board a biodiesel powered bus with 3 great DJs/Producers? Damn Straight. With couches lining the sides, a great sound system (powered by the solar panels on the roof!), and a dancefloor in the back this is no ordinary bus. We stop at 2-3 beautiful outdoor locations over the course of our ride for dancing and merriment.

For this event you better hold on to your hat! The Slayers Club have been making waves in the Bay Area for close to two years now and we’re excited to be bringing them back for an encore performance. DJs Manitous, Professor Bang and Freddie Future will be cuttin and scratchin the latest in electro, funk, glitch-hop, dubstep, breaks, cumbia, dancehall, fidget house and bmore (and if you know every one of those genres you’re probably a DJ yourself).

We’ve got a *SPECIAL DISCOUNT* for all you Slayers Club homies. Tickets for this banging night are $15 when you enter the code “SLAYER” at checkout.  Tickets are available here:http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/131028

MEETING SPOT: The BUS Stop Gallery, 135 Dore St, Unit C, near 9th and Folsom in San Francisco. Please arrive for check-in at 7:30PM. Our bus leaves promptly at 8m. We return you at 11:30pm, fully slayed. This event is 21+ and BYO.

Don’t miss the bus, kids!
